How to Change Oil on 2011 - 2016 Chevrolet Captiva
Required Materials:
- OEM Oil filter
- 5 – 8 quarts of 5W-30 motor oil
- Jack and jack stands
- 15-millimeter socket
- Oil drain pan
Performing the oil change:
- Park the 2011 – 2016 Chevrolet Captiva on leveled ground.
- Open the hood and locate the oil cap. Remove it and place it aside.
- If you can get underneath the front end of the vehicle, there is no need to lift it. However, if you can’t, lift the front end of the vehicle and place it on jack stands.
- Have an oil drain pan nearby.
- Locate the oil drain bolt. It is underneath the front end of the vehicle, on the oil pan.
- Using a 15-millimeter socket, remove the drain bolt and let the old oil drain in the drain pan.
- After 10 – 15 minutes, reinstall the oil drain bolt.
- Remove the old oil filter and install a new OEM oil filter. The filter is usually located near the drain bolt.
- Lower your Chevrolet Captiva (remove the jack stands).
- Pour 5 – 8 quarts of 5W-30 motor oil into the engine and reinstall the oil cap once done.
- Start the engine for about 5 minutes and then shut it off.
- Check the oil level and top it off if needed.
