How to Change Oil on 2016 - 2022 Chevrolet Captiva

Required Materials:

  1. OEM Oil filter
  2. 4.5 – 7.5 quarts of 5W-30 motor oil
  3. Jack and jack stands
  4.  15-millimeter socket
  5. Oil drain pan

Performing the oil change:

  1. Park the Chevrolet Captiva on leveled ground. The engine should not be running when filling oil, so turn it off.
  2. Open the hood and remove the oil cap. Store it properly.
  3. Lift the front end of your vehicle. Then, place it on jack stands. If you are able to get under the vehicle without lifting it, great!
  4. Have a drain bolt ready in place underneath the vehicle.
  5. Locate and remove the oil drain bolt using a 15-millimeter socket.
  6. After 10 minutes, reinstall the oil drain bolt. At this point, the old oil would be all drained.
  7. Remove the old oil filter and install a new OEM oil filter.
  8. Lower your Chevrolet Captiva and remove the jack stands.
  9. Pour 4.5 – 7.5 quartz of 5W-30 motor oil into the engine and reinstall the oil cap once done.
  10. Start the engine to get the oil circulating and then turn it off.
