How to Change Oil on 2017 - 2022 Chevrolet Equinox

Required Materials:

  1. OEM Oil filter
  2. 4 – 6 quarts of 5W-30 motor oil
  3. Jack and jack stands
  4.  15-millimeter socket
  5. Oil drain pan

Performing the oil change:

  1. Park the Chevrolet Equinox on leveled ground. Make sure the engine is cold so you can work safely on it.
  2. Remove the oil cap and store it safely. The oil cap is located under the hood, on top of the engine.
  3. Lift the front end of your Equinox and place it on jack stands for safety reasons. You need to lift it just enough so you can get under it.
  4. Place a drain bolt underneath the vehicle so you can catch the old oil.
  5. Locate and remove the oil drain bolt using a 15-millimeter socket. The bolt is located under the front end of the vehicle.
  6. After 10 minutes when the old oil is drained, reinstall the oil drain bolt. Make sure not to over-tighten it.
